All Members Pass the EMT-B Course
All prospective Hatzalah members began an EMT-B course in October 2010. It was a four month course through either Malcolm X College or Vista Health Systems. Each class met two times per week for four hours each night. The courses ended in March 2011, and all of the students passed both the written exam and the practical exam. All future members are currently in the process of sitting for the NREMT exam. Passing this exam allows each individual to apply for an Illinois State EMT-B license. To date, over 30 individuals have received their State license which gives them the ability to apply for entry into the Emergency Medical System.
